Pedestrian Injured After Collision With SUV In SF's Lower Nob Hill
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— San Francisco police responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the city's Lower Nob Hill neighborhood Friday morning.
According to Police Sergeant Eric O'Neal, the incident was reported around 9:45 a.m. when a man in the crosswalk was struck by a Jeep SUV at Bush and Hyde streets as the vehicle was making a left turn. Police said the man is suffering non-life threatening injuries and was transported to SF General Hospital.
"We saw this car take a really sharp turn and this guy was jogging across the street and the car just hits him head on. He flies up into the air," said shaken witness Alexandra Sullivan.
This is the third serious vehicle versus pedestrian incident in the same area in just three days.
On New Year's Eve, a six-year-old girl was struck and killed by an SUV in the Tenderloin when she was crossing the street with her mother and brother who were both injured. That same day an 86-year old man was struck and killed by a pickup truck in the Crocker-Amazon neighborhood. Arrests were made in both of those cases.

Then on Thursday, a man in his 20's was struck near Bush and Leavenworth, according to police Commander Mikail Ali. According to witnesses he was possibly running to a bus stop when he was hit. The victim is listed in critical condition at SF General Hospital. There were no arrests in that incident.
"There's no rhyme or reason why we've seen so many at this point this week," police spokesman Albie Esparza said about the increase in pedestrian-car collisions. "Essentially all we can do is try to educate the community so that we can avoid seeing these types of scenes."
