Suspect In Abduction Of 7-Year-Old Girl Arrested At Antioch Marina

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- Police arrested a 43-year-old Antioch man in connection with the armed abduction of 7-year-old Natalie Calvo in Antioch on Friday night.

At about 6:45 p.m., the suspect, later identified as David Allen Douglas, abducted the 7-year-old girl from in front of her home in the 3800 block of Hummingbird Drive, according to police.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Douglas had followed Natalie and her mother to their residence from a nearby Walmart, kidnapping the young girl just after she arrived home, police said.

A description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle, a gold 1990s four-door Toyota Camry, was obtained and an Amber Alert was initiated for Alameda, Contra Costa, Sacramento, Solano and San Joaquin counties, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The suspect had been described as a Filipino man between 40 and 50 years old, wearing a black beanie and possibly armed with a black rifle, the CHP said.

Investigators followed up on leads and were able to identify Douglas as the suspect. Officers found his vehicle in the parking lot of the Antioch Marina later in the night.

Douglas was inside the car with Natalie when police found the vehicle. He was taken into custody and Natalie was brought to safety without incident, police said.

According to police, Natalie had no apparent injuries and was promptly reunited with her family.

Douglas is being held on $4 million bail. Meantime, police are continuing to investigate the abduction.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call Detective Joannides with the Antioch Police Department at (925) 779-6931.
