Luke Arduini, 28, posted photos of his night online before taking an Uber car to his apartment in Oakland. That was the last time anyone has heard from Arduini. There is evidence he made it home, but where he went after that is a mystery.

A friend says the java script programmer at is so valuable that the company hired a private investigator to find him.

Private investigator James Vierra would not confirm or deny this. He talked to KPIX 5 from his Tracy office via Skype. He said he found the tie Arduini wore New Year's Eve party, a diabetes kit and antidepressant medicine and a kitten at his apartment.

"He had a past history of emotional unstableness," said Vierra. "He never physically harmed anyone, but he talked about you know, issues where he would be better off not being around."

On New Year's day Arduini tweeted to a pal "thanks for being a great friend."

Arduini has apparently traveled to Thailand alone in the past. He has tattoos of code and a heart on his arms and chest. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Oakland police.
