BART Service Restored After Woman Freed From Under Train

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- An unidentified woman who was rescued from beneath a BART train in San Francisco's Embarcadero station Sunday evening was transported to a hospital for emergency medical treatment, according to a BART spokeswoman.

Trains resumed regular service after experiencing major delays system-wide, according to BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost.

BART police received a report that a person was on the tracks beneath a train at San Francisco's Embarcadero station at 5:43 p.m., Trost said.

Trost said the female subject was moved from the tracks to the platform and then transported to a hospital.

BART trains ran single-track through Embarcadero station while investigators conducted interviews and investigated the incident, Trost said.

BART riders experienced delays of 20 minutes or more during the investigation, but all trains resumed regular service shortly after 7 p.m., according to Trost.

BART police left the scene and did not find any indication of foul play. The incident remains under investigation, according to Trost.
