Talent Reigns At Pebble Beach Pro-Am

PEBBLE BEACH, CA (CBS SF) - You never get tired of looking at the golf course at Pebble Beach. It's a quarter to 8:00am, Wednesday morning, along the 18th fairway and just beyond the pearly gates of Pebble Beach, Denver Broncos' quarterback Peyton Manning is found working on his golf game.

Days removed after his Broncos' loss at Super Bowl XLVIII, Manning is a surprise last minute entry to the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He is also a surprise to his playing partner and former San Francisco 49er, Harris Barton. "…I'm going to tell him you're my here for doing this!" Barton exclaims.

Manning was not in a talking mood. "…Great, great folks. Great people out here. So glad to be here and be a part of it" Manning says.

Part of the draw to the Pebble Beach Pro-Am is the celebrities. Including newcomer to the competition, Kid Rock as well as the mainstays like musician Kenny G, surfer Kelly Slater, actors Don Cheadle and Andy Garcia, this is it, for a mix of Hollywood and the PGA. Comedian Ray Romano says "This is serious stuff for us. We want to make that cut."

For Thursday's first round of competition, many of the A-Listers, the Pros and the stars will be split between two of the three courses, Spyglass Hill and the Monterey Peninsula Club. All without other mainstay celebs including Kevin James, Huey Lewis, George Lopez and Bill Murray. But like every year at this event, there is plenty of talent to go around.
