Bay Area Woman Labeled 'Slut' On Bank Of America Credit Card Offer

MENLO PARK (CBS SF) - A Bay Area writer is quickly gaining Internet fame for her good-natured response to being labeled a slut in a credit card offer mailing.

Lisa McIntire, a freelance writer who has previously worked for Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom and several progressive organizations, first posted a photo of the mailer on Twitter Thursday.

She says the credit card offer, made via a Bank of America partnership with the Golden Key Society, came to her parents' house in Menlo Park. She used Twitter to contact Bank of America about the issue and they eventually tried to resolve things via phone.

An investigation linked Lisa with the IT department of the Golden Key honor society, which says a change was made to her profile sometime between 2004-2008. They still don't know why exactly the change was made. Both Bank of America and Golden Key have apologized (the latter misspelling her name online).

McIntire has fired off dozens of humorous tweets in the aftermath of what she calls "LisaIsASlutGate".

She says she's gained 500 followers since she first posted images of the letter. It's certainly worth a read.
