San Jose State Student Found Dead In Dorm Room

SAN JOSE (KCBS)— A student was found dead in his dorm room at San Jose State State University, according to school officials.

He was found dead Sunday in Joe West Hall, the school reported. University spokeswoman Pat Lopes Harris did not identify the student or comment on the cause death.

Numerous tweets indicated the student was 18-year-old Brenden Tiggs. Several San Jose State students groups tweeted word of a candlelight vigil for Tiggs Monday night at 9:00 p.m. in front of Joe West Hall.

Police responded to a call from residence hall staff around 2:45 p.m. Sunday and found his body said Lopes Harris.

“The cause of death is still very much under investigation and that investigation is handled by the coroner’s office,” she said.
