Benicia Suspect Arrested For Deadly Shooting In Rodeo
RODEO (CBS SF) -- A Benicia man suspected of fatally shooting a man in Rodeo Sunday morning has been arrested, Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies arrested 28-year-old Beal Xavier Hickman in connection with the homicide.
Shortly after 3 a.m. this morning, deputies were dispatched to Doctors Medical Center in San Pablo regarding a man who had arrived at the emergency room with multiple gunshot wounds, deputies said.
The victim, also a 28-year-old man, was transferred to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he succumbed to his injuries at about 9:20 a.m.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin, according to deputies.
During the investigation, deputies contacted Hickman and later arrested him as a suspect in the homicide. He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail in Martinez and is being held in lieu of $1,320,000 bail, sheriff's deputies said.
Deputies determined that the shooting occurred on Tullibee Court in Rodeo and working to establish a motive for the homicide.
