Jan Wahl Movie Review: ‘Winter’s Tale’

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Winter’s Tale is a mythical romance about a burglar (Colin Farrell) trying to win the heart of a woman (Jessica Brown Findlay) while battling evil forces (personified by Russell Crowe) along the way.

It’s definitely a romance, but it’s also a weird, bizarre film experience. This film takes you to a mythic New York City as the film begins to span more than a century. It’s a tale of miracles, destiny and the battles between good and evil.

Jan Wahl Entertainment Report: Winter’s Tale

Based on Mark Helprin’s novel this film has noble intentions. Colin Farrell is as good as he was in Saving Mr. Banks. He’s a fine actor and he plays someone who wants to leave his criminal past behind him, but he falls in love with his doomed heiress. I’d say it’s a supernatural exploration of the human soul.
