'Covered California' Website Goes Offline For Software Fixes

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) -- The Covered California enrollment website continues to experience technical issues and is expected to be offline through this weekend. Engineers have been working on the site since Wednesday.

Covered California is the state's marketplace for the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, providing individuals and small businesses access to health insurance plans.

The cause of the website problem was due to a software malfunction during a maintenance update, but officials say no consumer data was compromised.

During the outage, consumers can visit information pages and the Shop & Compare Tool.
