Daly City Man Admits Biting, Punching Both Parents In Violent Fight Over Family Cat
REDWOOD CITY (CBS SF) -- A Daly City man who admitted to biting both of his parents in a violent fight over the family cat has pleaded no contest to felony assault, according to the district attorney's office.
Yevgeniy Bolshakov, 26, entered his plea in Superior Court on Monday in exchange for a seven-month jail sentence and a three-year probation term, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
Prosecutors dropped the more serious charge of mayhem as part of a plea deal, the district attorney said.
On the night of the attack just before midnight, Bolshakov returned to the Daly City apartment he shared with his parents after a short trip away over Thanksgiving weekend.
Bolshakov apparently wanted to see the family cat, but his parents wouldn't allow it because the cat had recently had surgery, Wagstaffe said.
Bolshakov became enraged and attacked his father, punching him several times in the head and biting a chunk of flesh out of his father's arm, Wagstaffe said.
The defendant also bit his father on the elbow and the chin, according to the district attorney's office.
When his mother tried to intervene, Bolshakov apparently punched her and bit her hand, Wagstaffe said.
Police responded to the scene and immediately took Bolshakov into custody. As he was being taken away, he allegedly said that he wanted to kill both his parents and burn their apartment, according to the district attorney's office.
The defendant has been in San Mateo County Jail since the attack.
As part of his probation terms, Bolshakov will not be allowed to have contact with his parents and is required to undergo counseling, Wagstaffe said.
