Toppled Tree Crushes Car, Kills Driver Near Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS/AP) -- Authorities said that one person has died after a tree fell onto a car driving along Sunrise Boulevard in Citrus Heights, late Saturday morning.

Police spokesman Bryan Fritsch said the tree in the center median appears to have split down the middle Saturday, falling onto northbound and southbound lanes of Sunrise Boulevard.

The name of the driver killed in the accident was not immediately released. A passenger in the sedan was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

A minivan rolled over during the accident, though no other injuries were reported.

The cause of the tree collapse has not been determined.
