Intoxicated East Palo Alto Man Accidentally Shoots Himself
EAST PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- An intoxicated East Palo Alto man accidentally shot himself in the foot Sunday morning, a police sergeant said.
A 20-year-old man had been drinking alcoholic beverages with his friends in the 2200 block of Terra Villa Avenue shortly after 7 a.m. when he accidentally shot himself in his right foot with a handgun, East Palo Alto police Sgt. Jeff Liu said.
The man was taken to a hospital and treated for his injury, according to Liu.
He admitted to police what happened and was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for misdemeanor negligent discharge of a firearm, the sergeant said.
The firearm he accidentally shot himself with has not been recovered, Liu said.
