SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) — The San Francisco 49ers released their preseason schedule Wednesday, listing the first games at the team’s new stadium in Santa Clara.
The team will open up the preseason in Week 1 ( Aug. 7-10) on the road versus the Baltimore Ravens and then will then return to the Bay Area for back-to-back games against the Denver Broncos in Week 2 (Aug. 14-18) and the San Diego Chargers for Week 3 (Aug. 24).
The preseason home opener with the Broncos will be the first NFL game ever at Levi’s Stadium. The first sporting event will be a San Jose Earthquakes soccer match against the Seattle Sounders on August 2nd.
In addition to being the home of the 49ers, Levi’s Stadium is expected to host dozens of other events, including soccer matches, concerts and college football games.
It was chosen by the NFL to be the site of Super Bowl L, scheduled for February 2016.
