OAKLAND (CBS SF) — Investigators have released a description of a possible suspect in a suspicious fire that burned administrative offices for Children’s Hospital Oakland earlier this month.

The fire department said security cameras captured a man behind the building at 670 53rd St. just before the fire was reported at 2:35 a.m. on April 4.

The man is described as white, between 30 and 40 years old with dark balding hair, an average build and was wearing a dark checkered shirt, dark pants and possibly a goatee, Oakland fire chief of staff Cynthia Perkins said.

The fire started outside the two-story house, which was used by Children’s Hospital as office space, and caused extensive damage to the second floor and attic, fire officials said.

There was some smoke and fire damage to the first floor and damage to the doorway from firefighters forcing their way into the locked building, according to the fire department. Total damage to the building was estimated at $150,000.

No one was in the offices when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported. It is being investigated as arson, according to the fire department.
