SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Two people killed in a one-alarm fire at a home in San Francisco’s Sunnydale neighborhood Wednesday morning have been identified as a mother and her 3-old-son, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Ester Ioane, 32, and her son William Santana were killed in the fire, which was reported at 9:54 a.m. in a two-story building at 76 Brookdale Ave.

The blaze was controlled at 10:20 a.m., fire officials said.

Ioane was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries suffered in the blaze. William was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries there, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.
