U-Haul Hit & Runs Into SF Fire Truck In SoMa, Leads To 1 Arrest

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— One person is in custody following a hit-and-run accident involving a San Francisco fire truck in the South of Market area.

Fire officials said an engine was responding to an accident around 11:20 a.m. on Friday when it was hit by someone driving a U-Haul truck at 9th and Folsom.

Police said the driver took off, but the fire truck tried to stop it with its lights and sirens.

Police eventually caught up with the driver at 9th and Howard and the suspect was taken into custody.

San Francisco police spokesman Albie Esparza said the suspect had resisted arrest.

Esparza urged people to avoid that intersection as the investigation into this incident continues.

No injuries were reported.
