Hottest Temperatures Of The Year Hit Bay Area, Heat Wave To Push Mercury Into Mid 90s

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Temperatures are soaring into the upper 80s today, and mid 90s by Wednesday as high pressure keeps cool sea air away from the Bay Area, until next week when another chance at rain returns.

Many cities already hit their average daily high by 10 a.m. today, prompting an excited tweet from KPIX 5 chief meteorologist Paul Deanno:

High pressure and offshore winds will affect every city, even at the coast. San Jose will hit 86 degrees today, while San Francisco stays at 75, and Oakland hits 80.

Wednesday and Thursday are the peak, with the sea breeze returning Friday with fog on the coast and cooler temperatures.
