Teenagers Arrested In String Of Brentwood Armed Robberies

BRENTWOOD (CBS SF) -- Two Oakley teens have been arrested in connection with a string of armed robberies in Brentwood earlier this month, police said Wednesday.

Officers on Friday arrested 18-year-old Baldeep Singh and a 17-year-old boy, whose name hasn't been released due to his age, after finding evidence linking them to five armed robberies on April 17, according to police.

Police said the robberies occurred between 8:18 p.m. and 9:35 p.m.  at different locations throughout Brentwood.

In each of the robberies, suspects brandished a black semi-automatic handgun. In two of the incidents, the suspects used pepper spray on victims, police said.

Multiple male suspects robbed the victims of their cellphones and other personal items and fled the scene.

One robbery victim suffered a cut to the knee while running from the suspects and two others were exposed to pepper spray, but none required hospitalization, according to police.

Police said investigators developed information last Thursday leading to the arrest of Singh and the 17-year-old suspect.

Both were taken to county detention facilities where they remained in custody as of Wednesday morning, according to Brentwood police Sgt. Walter O'Grodnick.

"We're excited we were able to make arrests that will hopefully put the community's mind at ease," O'Grodnick said.

Police are still attempting to locate at least two more suspects in connection with the robberies.

Both the vehicle and gun used in the robberies also have not been found, according to O'Grodnick.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective George Aguirre at (925) 809-7726 during normal business hours or (925) 778-2441 after 5 p.m.
