Suspected Drunk Sausalito Driver Arrested For Hitting Parked Car

SAUSALITO (CBS SF) -- A man was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run while being under the influence of drugs after allegedly striking a parked car and then fleeing in Sausalito late Friday night, police said Saturday.

Scott Lindner, 26, was arrested following an incident that began at 11:46 p.m. when police received a call reporting that a silver Infiniti with paper plates had struck a parked car in the 100 block of Bulkley Avenue, according to police.

The driver of the Infiniti fled but police found the vehicle nearby on Glen Drive. It had sustained moderate damage with the airbag partially deployed and the driver, later identified as Lindner, remained in the driver's seat, police said.

Lindner, a Sausalito resident, displayed symptoms of being under the influence of drugs and there was a strong odor of marijuana in the car. He allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana and consuming Xanax and cocaine earlier in the day, according to police.

Lindner failed to perform field sobriety tests and was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.

Police said they also searched the car and found several individual bags containing a white powdery substance suspected of being cocaine, as well as a large sum of cash.

Lindner was then booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sale in addition to the DUI and hit-and-run offenses, police said.
