Detectives said they located child pornography on a computer belonging to Nguyen. He was subsequently arrested while on duty and booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

"We just know that the child pornography was located on his personal computer," said San Jose police spokeswoman Sgt. Heather Randol.  "Beyond that, we don't know how he came into contact with that or what else the detectives have determined at this point."

Randol said what makes this case even more troubling is the fact that the accused is a law enforcement officer.

"It's always very disturbing, not only for the law enforcement industry, but for the community at large," she said.  "We take these very seriously and it certainly tugs at our integrity when it involves a law enforcement officer."

Nguyen has been placed on paid administrative lead by the Mountain View Police Department.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the San Jose Police Department's Child Exploits Detail at (408) 537-1381.
