15 Things To Do In The Bay Area This Week — May 25th-June 1st

1 – Cozy up with Off the Grid in the Presidio on May 29th for their Twilight Campfire party. The fun starts at 5 PM at the Main Post Lawn.
2 – Make people laugh and talk about yourself at the Stork Club’s weekly comedy showcase, Storking Comedy. Comedians, hobbyist, amateur or professional are welcome to participate in the open mic from 6:30 to 8 PM every Thursday. Sign up at 6 PM.
3 – Bring chalk and a sweet tooth to the 18th Annual Chocolate and Chalk Art Festival on Saturday, May 31st in Berkeley. The sideways along North Shattuck Ave become the canvas to your imagination, while musical acts inspire. There will be a Chalk Art Contest with cash prizes.
4 – Also Saturday, the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival brings you some hip chamber music at 1PM for free at the Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco.
5 – …and at Amoeba Music on Haight Street, John Doe of LA’s legendary Punk Band “X” is performing at 2PM for free.
6 – Soothe your mind with free Symphony and Italian Opera in the Park on Sunday, June 1st at 1PM at Spreckels Temple of Music in Golden Gate Park.
7 – The Frankenart Mart, located in the Inner Richmond of San Francisco, is giving away free hotdogs on Sunday, June 1st from 1PM to 6PM. They joke that cat hair toppings will be available.
8 – If you prefer bagels, grab a free bagel from La Victoria Bakery at the corner of 24th and Alabama in San Francisco. Every Monday, they give away hundreds of bagels starting at 8AM until they run out.
9 – Catch a film at the New Parkway Theater in Oakland. If you’re around The New Parkway on Thursdays at 7PM, test your trivia knowledge for a chance to win tickets or beer!
10 – Get your line dancing, watermelon crawl, electric slide and cupid shuffle on at Twang Honky Tonk, every Thursday night at McTeague’s Saloon in San Francisco. Free dance lessons every hour on the hour starting at 8PM.
11 – If you have a beard or mustache, or just like them, or just want them, stop by Zeitgeist in San Francisco on Friday May 30th at 7PM and join the SF Beard and Mustache Club. There are rumors of a San Francisco Beard and Mustache Competition so come share your ideas, beards and mustaches.
12 – The last day to see “You Don’t Say! Cartoons Without Words,” a humorous cartoon exhibit at the San Francisco Public Library Main Branch, is Saturday, May 31st from 10 AM to 6 PM.
13 – Grove on the Road, a new, free, mobile “pop up” music and arts festival by Stern Grove will be at Noe Valley Town Center on Sunday, June 1st from 11AM to 3PM.
14 – Grab a drink and type out a letter for anyone in the world on Monday, June 2nd at the Make-Out Room in San Francisco. The Attack of the Typewriters Old School Letter Writing Party gives you the chance to silently let it all out.
15 – Get your singing on every Monday in the Castro for Musical Mondays Sing-Along at The Edge. Each Monday is a different theme and you never know who will show up to sing a few numbers, perhaps from their own show. The fun starts at 7PM.
