1 Dead, 3 Others Injured In Shooting At Seattle Pacific University, Gunman In Custody

SEATTLE (CBS / AP) -- Seattle police say the suspect in a shooting at a small university that left one dead was not a student.

At a news conference Thursday night, police said the suspect in custody was a white male "approximately 26 years of age."

He was armed with a shotgun and knife when he opened fire Thursday afternoon at a building at Seattle Pacific University. Police say a student building monitor subdued the gunman with pepper spray as he tried to reload.

A 19-year-old man died at Harborview Medical Center. Three other people were hospitalized.

Hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg says a critically injured 20-year-old woman was taken to surgery. A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were in satisfactory condition.

Gregg says one of those two men was not shot.
