FREMONT (CBS SF) — Police were looking for a man who broke into a Fremont home and was captured on video surveillance footage Wednesday morning.

The burglary took place at a home on Amorok Way near Paseo Padre Parkway around 10:20 a.m., police said.

In the video the suspect is seen hitting and repositioning the camera with a 7-foot wooden trim found on yard of the residence, according to police.

The man then entered the home by kicking a side garage door, which caused an alarm to sound, police said.

He opened an unlocked door leading to the residence then backed away from the home once the alarm went off and fled to Paseo Padre Parkway, police said.

The homeowner was notified of the burglary within minutes through the alarm monitoring service company ADT and called police.

The suspect may have fled in a 4-door silver- or beige-colored car, possibly American-made, seen traveling west on Amorok Way towards Paseo Padre Parkway, police said.

The suspect is described as a heavy-set black man in his late 20s to early 30s with short black hair, black mustache and black “chin strap” beard up to his lower lip.

He was last seen wearing a baggy olive green T-shirt with a large photo-type logo on the front, black pants and either black and white sneakers or black sandals with white socks visible through the holes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fremont Police Department’s Investigations Unit at (510) 790-6900.
