FBI: Colma Ranks As ‘Most Protected’ Bay Area City With Highest Number Of Police Officers Per Resident

(CBS SF) How does your city stack up when it comes to the number of police officers per person? Using 2012 data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program, CBS SF compared 54 Bay Area cities. Colma came out on top for police protection, with 9.3 police officers per 1,000 citizens. Belvedere ranked second with 3.8 officers for every 1,000 residents.

Meanwhile, San Francisco came in fourth place with 2.6 officers per 1,000 citizens, and Oakland in 12th with about 1.6 officers per 1,000 residents.

Antioch, Vallejo, and Hercules join several other cities, coming in last with fewer than one officer for every 1,000 residents.
