SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF)— Two men were shot at a bus stop in San Francisco’s Mission District early Sunday morning in what police say appears to be a gang-related territorial fight.

The pair of 20 and 21-year-old men, both from San Francisco, were shot around 2:35 a.m. Sunday at 18th and Mission streets, according to police spokeswoman Sgt. Danielle Newman.

The men were at the bus stop in a group of about six people when, from across the street, two suspects believed to be associated with a gang told the group they owned the block, Newman said.

An argument ensued and one of the suspects took out a gun and opened fire, she said.

The 20-year-old man was shot in his right forearm and abdomen, while the 21-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his lower leg, Newman said.

Both were taken to San Francisco General Hospital and are expected to survive their injuries, according to police.

The suspects ran away, but police were able to catch one of them. The other remained at large as of Monday morning, Newman said.

The man arrested has been identified as Juan Ramirez, 26, of San Francisco, Newman said.

He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder and a gang enhancement, she said.
