San Jose Burglary Suspect Arrested After Online Purchase Traced To Stolen Computer

SANTA CLARA COUNTY (CBS SF) -- A man was arrested last week after Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies determined a stolen Apple computer was used to make an online purchase from his San Jose home, sheriff's officials said Monday.

Deputies last Tuesday booked Ryan Paradiso, 36, into the county's Main Jail, where is being held without bail on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and violation of probation, sheriff's Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said.

The investigation that led to Paradiso's arrest began April 24, when deputies responded to a reported commercial burglary in which an Apple iMac and other items were stolen in the 18000 block of Prospect Road in Saratoga, Stenderup said.

Detectives learned that the stolen iMac had been used to make a purchase online at an address in the 2300 block of Lincoln Avenue in San Jose, deputies said.

Last Tuesday, deputies went to the residence where Paradiso lived to conduct a probation search, according to Stenderup.

After deputies arrived, they caught Paradiso attempting to escape through the front window of his condominium, Stenderup said.

Inside the home, deputies located the missing iMac and a stolen handgun, several computer monitors, cellphones, jewelry, bicycles, a large set of silver dinnerware and a photo album with old currency from various foreign countries.

As deputies started to search the home's garage, several neighbors who came by noticed some of their possessions inside, including bicycles, Stenderup said.

Deputies, after checking stolen property reports filed with the San Jose Police Department, returned the items to the rightful owners.

The sheriff's office is asking for the public's help to identify the owners of the silverware set, the photo album with the currency and the computer monitors recovered from Paradiso's home.

Anyone with information about the items may contact Detective Sgt. Bryan Glatz at (408) 868-6600 or at bryan.glatz@sheriff.sccgov.org.
