Woman Killed, 2 Injured In East Oakland Shootings

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A woman was killed in a double shooting in East Oakland on Tuesday evening, police said.

Two people were shot at 6:44 p.m. in the 600 block of Douglas Avenue, around the corner from Edes and 98th avenues, according to police.

A 49-year-old Oakland woman was found lying on the ground there and was pronounced dead.

A male victim was also shot in the area and took himself to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.

Earlier in the afternoon, a victim was seriously injured in a shooting in the 9200 block of Hillside Street at 1:53 p.m.

The male victim was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

There was also gunfire across town in West Oakland on Tuesday evening but police said no one appears to have been injured.

Shots were fired at about 5 p.m. in the 1000 block of Eighth Street in the Acorn public housing projects, police said.

Police found no suspects or victims but an unoccupied security vehicle was hit by the gunfire, according to police.
