Jump On Tomorrow: President Obama In SF Tuesday, Microsoft, Apple Earnings, Soda Tax, And Chevron Refinery

(KPIX/KBCW NIGHTBEAT) -- Getting a jump on tomorrow: President Obama arrives in San Francisco Tuesday night and heads to Los Altos Wednesday, the Richmond city council meets about the refinery expansion, and another city considers a sales tax on soda.

Air Force One is due to land at 9:10 p.m. at SFO and the presidential motorcade will then head into San Francisco for the night. No word on where President Obama will stay. Wednesday, he heads to Los Altos for a Democratic Party fundraiser.

San Francisco doesn't want to be left out of the soda tax excitement, following Berkeley's lead in considering a tax. The proposal in San Francisco would put a $.02 tax on sodas on the November ballot for voters to approve or reject. Berkeley already has the measure on the ballot. San Francisco's county supervisors still have to vote on whether to proceed.

Also Tuesday night, Richmond's City Council considers the $1 billion upgrade to the Chevron refinery. The Richmond planning commission approved Chevron's environmental impact report Monday. The meeting and discussion begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Center Auditorium.

Microsft and Apple will release earnings. Microsoft may be facing layoffs.

Finally, one year ago Prince George was born. Happy birthday, chap!
