15 Things To Do In The Bay Area, Mostly Free: Peanuts, Tamales, Earthquakes and Art!–July 27-August 2nd

1 – Tom Everhart, the artist behind the Peanuts comic strips, currently has an exhibit at the Peabody Fine Art Gallery in Menlo Park. Be sure to visit the exhibit that includes original Peanuts art before it closes on September 1st.
2 – Marin Shakespeare Company will be performing Romeo and Juliet on Friday August 1st at 8:00pm. The performance will be held at Forest Meadows Amphitheatre on the Dominican University of California campus.
3 – Calling all gamers! Enjoy your favorite games at the Oakland Public Library on Saturday, August 2nd from 3-5pm. Systems will include X-box Kinect, PS3, and Wii.
4 – The Annual Fremont Festival of the Arts is here! Saturday August 2nd starting at 10:00am, be there to enjoy the work of more than 700 artisans.
5 – The San Jose Earthquakes will be hosting Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday August 2nd at 7:30pm on the Santa Clara University campus.
6 – Learn how water is cleaned and treated to make it safe for you to use. Sunnyvale’s Water Pollution Control Plant is offering a tour of their facilities on Saturday August 2nd at 9:00am; be sure to call today to reserve your spot.
7 – Head over to the Old Mint in San Francisco to see the We Shape Our City exhibit, showing the creativity and innovation of San Francisco. On Sunday August 3rd doors open at 1:00pm.
8 – Join your fellow art enthusiasts for Friday Nights at the De Young on August 1st starting at 6:00pm. Enjoy the special exhibition Modernism from the National Gallery of Art: The Robert and Jane Meyerhoff Collection.
9 – The A’s take on the Kansas City Royals in a three-game series at O.Co coliseum. First game will be Friday August 1st at 6:35pm.
10 –The second game will be on Saturday August 2nd at 1:05pm.
11 – Sunday, August 3rd is the third and final game of the series, at 1:05pm.
12 – Don’t miss out on your chance to jam out to some free music on Sunday, August 3rd at the Stern Grove Festival. Todd Sickafoose’s Tiny Resistors will be performing at 2:00pm along with Andrew Bird and The Hands Of Glory.
13 – Grab the whole family for Friday Nights at Oakland Museum of California on Friday August 1st from 5-9pm. You don’t want to miss out on the Off The Grid food trucks and half-price admission to the museum.
14 – Be sure to check out the San Jose Tamale Festival at Emma Prusch Farm Park on Saturday August 2nd at 10:00am to learn about Hispanic traditions and of course enjoy some great tamales!
15 – Top off your weekend with Picnic at the Presidio hosted by Off the Grid, with multiple food trucks on site there will be plenty of choices for everyone in the family. Be at the Presidio Sunday August 3rd starting at 11:00am.
