Batkid Movie Arrives At San Diego Comic-Con

UPDATED 7/27/2014: SAN DIEGO, CA (CBS SF) - Last November, the eyes of the world turned to San Francisco as the Bay Area chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted young leukemia survivor Miles Scott to live his dream of being "Batman" for a day. Filmmaker and director Dana Nachman captured the "Batkid's" extraordinary experience in a documentary titled "Batkid Begins." What better place to discuss the film than at a panel at Comic-Con in San Diego. The panel consisted of a discussion on the making of the project along with a question and answer session this Sunday at the San Diego Convention Center.

Deputy editor of Mashable, Chris Taylor moderated Nachman's panel at the comic convention. Joining them at the table was Patricia Wilson, CEO of Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area and organizer of Miles Scott's day. Also on the panel Eric Johnston, Batkid's adult Batman sidekick, Mike Jutan as Batkid's arch-nemesis, The Penguin (and Lucasfilm engineer) and Sue Graham Johnston, the "damsel in distress."

A crowdfunding campaign was kicked off through IndieGoGo to help pay for the documentary. Offered as part of the crowdfunding campaign, supporters's names will get credited at the end of the film, private screenings and the chance attend the film's premiere. The filmmakers are hoping to reach their goal of $100,000 by the end of August. After a week, the campaign has raised 40% of its goal to help the film.
