'Professional Squatter' Evicted From San Bruno Rental

SAN BRUNO (CBS SF) -- A woman accused of defrauding landlords has been evicted from a San Bruno rental.

Debbie DeRivero and her family were ordered to leave by Wednesday morning, after a battle with property managers at her San Bruno rental.

Some property owners liken DeRivero to a professional squatter.

"She knows all types of loopholes, scamming homeowners, and cheating them over several months of rent before moving over to the next victim," property manager Brandon Chen said.

Property owner Jonathon Low discovered he may have been her next target.

"Things just didn't seem right about the application. Contact for a landlord was the number she uses for me to contact her," Low said.

The inconsistencies led Low to look DeRivero online, where he found an earlier KPIX 5 story on her legal and financial troubles.

"I saw your report on her. I just started shaking. I played the link, and you know, shocked to find out she was doing this," Low said.
