WATSONVILLE (CBS SF) — Watsonville police are investigating a stabbing Sunday morning that sent a man to the hospital.
Police responded around 12:30 a.m. to a residence in the 400 block of East Beach Street in reference to a stabbing.
Police said arriving officers located a 23-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper torso.
The victim was airlifted to the hospital. His condition was not immediately available.
Witnesses told investigators the stabbing occurred following an altercation after a crash in the area of East Beach Street at Beck Street.
Police said the victim was driving home when a dark, newer-looking full-sized truck struck his vehicle.
Police said the driver of the pickup exited the vehicle and began to fight with the victim in the roadway.
The victim suffered moderate to severe injuries in the fight but was able to enter his residence.
Police said the suspect returned to the scene, possibly with other suspects, and the men attacked the victim, stabbing him in the torso.
They fled the area in the truck.
