Crews Knock Down Fire At San Jose Seinor Home

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - Firefighters got the upper hand on a fire at a senior living home in San Jose Wednesday morning, a San Jose Fire Department dispatcher said.

The fire was reported just before 5 a.m. at the Atria Willow Glen senior living home located on 1660 Gaton Drive, the dispatcher said.

A second alarm was called at 5:01 a.m., according to the dispatcher.

The fire, which was burning on the second floor of the main building, above the dining hall, was knocked down by 5:30 a.m. Crews on the scene said it appears the fire began in a ceiling light fixture.

Residents, who are able-bodied seniors living in units with kitchens, will have to prepare many meals while repairs are made.

No further details were immediately available.
