Protesters Angry Over Michael Brown Killing Crash Oakland Pro-Palestinian Rally

OAKLAND (CBS) -- A large pro-Palestinian demonstration in West Oakland Saturday was infiltrated by protesters angry over the police shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed teen, in Missouri.

The pro-Palestinian supporters were rallying to stop an Israeli ship from unloading at the Port of Oakland.

Police said a group of people they believe to be anarchists, carrying weapons, merged into the rally and began taunting officers, calling them "pigs" and "murderers."

Protest organizers and officers tried to keep the demonstrators under control in light of the violence the night before during a march to support the people of Ferguson, the city where Brown was killed. Protesters vandalized businesses and one officer was hospitalized.

Fortunately, there were no such incidents on Saturday. Most of the demonstrators were gone by 7 p.m.
