SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Four suspects were arrested in connection with a shooting that critically injured a man near the Powell BART station in downtown San Francisco on Tuesday night, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting on Market Street between Fifth and Sixth streets at about 7:50 p.m., San Francisco police
Officer Gordon Shyy said.
Based on a preliminary investigation, a group of people, one armed with a handgun, approached a man on Market Street and an altercation ensued, Shyy said.
The man was struck by gunfire and then ran into a nearby business. Emergency crews transported the man to a hospital for treatment, according to Shyy.
Following the shooting, police dispatchers received descriptions of a group of suspects who witnesses saw flee from the scene.
Officers soon located the suspects in the 400 block of Stevenson Street, about a block away, Shyy said.
The suspects, two males and two females, were taken into custody Tuesday night without further incident, San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy said. Their names were not immediately being released.
The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition and the motive for the shooting is under investigation, Shyy said.
