CHP Find $17,000 In Drugs, Cash During Oakland Traffic Stop

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A Tuesday traffic stop in Oakland led to a drug arrest and the confiscation of more than $17,000 in drugs and cash, California Highway Patrol officers said.

Around 8:30 p.m., a CHP officer stopped a Chevy Impala for speeding on Frontage Road near West Grand Avenue.

The officer smelled marijuana during the stop and, following a search of the vehicle, found approximately $7,000 in cash, 100 grams of cocaine valued at approximately $6,000 and 27 grams of marijuana, according to the CHP.

The driver, identified Ivan Torres, 24, of San Pablo, was arrested on several counts including suspicion of drug possession and drug sales.

Officers later served a warrant at Torres' home and located an additional $4,000 in cash and evidence of drug sales, officers said.
