San Francisco Dog Adoption Fees Reduced 50% For One Week

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco Animal Care & Control is currently packed with adoptable dogs but the shelter has little room to house new arrivals.

To alleviate strain on the agency and find as many loving new homes as possible, Animal Care & Control will offer reduced adoption fees for qualified adopters on all dogs and puppies from Saturday, Aug. 30 through Friday Sept. 5.

The program is called the "Labor of Love Day Dog Adoption Specials."

All dog and puppy adoptions will be 50% off for the week. The fee includes free veterinary exams, a microchip locator, a one-year dog license for San Francisco, spay-or-neuter surgery, and 20%-off coupons for pet supplies at Pet Food Express.

The adoption fee for an adult dog is normally $135. The adoption fee for a puppy is normally $175.

Animal Care & Control will be closed Monday for Labor Day.
