(CBS SF) – “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.” To think it’s been 75 years since Clark Gable uttered those famous words into film history.

In celebration, Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies is bringing back the biggest film from Hollywood’s Golden Age, Gone With The Wind to the big screen.

Over 650 selected cinemas across the country will screen the classic film on September 28 and October 1st. Twenty cinemas alone will screen the film here in the Bay Area. Additionally, to introduce the film, TCM has produced a special featurette by TCM host and film historian Robert Osborne.

Gone With the Wind stars Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O’Hara, Clark Gable as Rhett Butler, Olivia De Havilland as Melanie Hamilton, Leslie Howard as Ashley Wilkes and Oscar®-winner Hattie McDaniel. The epic Civil War drama won 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Lead & Supporting Actress for Leigh & McDaniel and Best Director for Victor Fleming. The film was released in 1939 and has been re-released nine times ever since.

Gone With the Wind is one of the most celebrated and iconic films in the WB Library,” noted Jeff Baker, WBHE’s Executive VP and General Manager, Theatrical Catalog. “We are very selective about re-releasing classic films from our library, theatrically and this is certainly one that warrants the limited re-release. Deservedly, 75 years later, it remains the domestic box-office king at nearly $1.7 billion (adjusted for inflation).”
