How Much Money Does Facebook Lose For Every Minute It’s Down?

(CBS SF) — Social media users across the Twittersphere reported Facebook was down for about 10 minutes Wednesday afternoon, which ultimately impacts company profits.

According to TechCrunch, the social media site went dark on both web and mobile in the US, Europe and other parts of the world, but was quickly back online.

Major outages have impacted Facebook this summer in May, June and August. TechCrunch estimates Facebook loses about $22,453 for every minute its down around the globe, but could have been more since the outage happened during a prime browsing time for Facebook’s markets in the West.
