Responding officers found a female victim suffering from apparent blunt force trauma. She was pronounced dead shortly after the police arrived.

Police are now investigating the motive and circumstances surrounding the murder, according to Randol.

Lt. Steve Longoria told KCBS that two people that have been described as persons of interest have been detained and that witnesses have been cooperating.

The victim was found close to City Team Ministries, an organization that assists the area's homeless population, and Longoria said she could have been homeless or someone that was trying to help the homeless.

The identity of the woman has not been released.
