Oakland Man Convicted Of Mayhem And Assault For Attacks On 3 Females In 2012
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A 45-year-old man has been convicted of mayhem with the use of a firearm as well as two counts of assault and robbery for attacking three female victims in two separate incidents two years ago.
Prosecutors in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office said David Lee Anderson, a hotel employee, robbed a 17-year-old girl near a corner store at 19th Avenue and East 21st Street in East Oakland on Nov. 9, 2012.
Anderson, who was found guilty earlier this week, repeatedly slammed the girl's head against the store's wall while he was trying to take her cellphone, ultimately causing her to suffer a concussion, prosecutors said.
Anderson then kicked the girl's 14-year-old relative in the head when she tried to intervene and protect the 17-year-old from the attack, according to prosecutors.
Anderson fled the scene after taking the 17-year-old's cellphone, prosecutors said.
Five days later, on Nov. 14, 2012, Anderson shot a woman in her right pinky while she was seated in her car in the driveway of a residence on Pearmain Street and 107th Avenue in East Oakland while she was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend, according to prosecutors.
The victim had to have her pinky amputated, prosecutors said.
After shooting the woman, Anderson accidentally shot himself in the leg while fleeing the scene, prosecutors said.
Anderson is expected to face a lengthy term in state prison when Alameda County Superior Court Judge Thomas Reardon sentences him on Nov. 7.
