Daily Madden: 49ers Need A Confidence Boost Of Win In Arizona
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - After giving up a 17 point lead to lose to the Chicago Bears last weekend, the San Francisco 49ers travel to Arizona to face the 2-0 Cardinals Sunday.
"When you lose, you not only lose a game, but you lose a little confidence and you lose a little swag," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "(The 49ers) have to get the win and they have to get the confidence and the swag. (People think) these guys are pros and they're really confident. But when you lose, it's like a fighter when he gets knocked out. When you lose you don't know if you're ever going to win another game."
Madden said it won't be easy.
"Playing down there against Arizona is going to be tough because Arizona is one of those groups that plays well as a team, and you're on the road coming off the loss... There's a lot of things out there mentally in addition to the physical part of it. Like I always say, winning is a great deodorant. So you can get rid of all that stuff with a win, and you can't get rid of it until you win another game." (6:20)
