More Than 40 Shots Fired Into Apartment Building In Richmond, No One Injured

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- No one was injured when more than 40 shots were fired into a Richmond apartment building on Thursday night, a police spokeswoman said Friday.

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Bissell Avenue, where officers found 44 shell casings, Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

The bullets went into an apartment building and at least one car, but no injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and a suspect description was not available.

Abetkov said police have seen a rise in gang activity in the city and believe the shooting is likely gang-related.

The same block of Bissell Avenue has seen significant gang violence in the past, she said.

Anyone with information about the Thursday night shooting is encouraged to call Richmond police at (510) 232-1214 or the police department's anonymous tip line at (510) 232-TIPS.
