Giants CEO Hints At Future Advertising On Major League Baseball Jerseys

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - San Francisco Giants CEO Larry Baer is apparently in favor of breaking the Major League Baseball ban regarding advertising on uniforms.

The practice, which is already widespread on European soccer gear, was opposed by outgoing commissioner Bud Selig. During an appearance on KNBR's Tom Tolbert Show with Ray Ratto last week, Giants CEO Larry Baer said the idea will likely be reevaluated as new commissioner Rob Manfred takes the helm, according to HardballTalk.

"This is new revenue. And I think there's always ownership support for new revenue, right?" Baer asked.

Baer indicated that it could be a mechanism to slow the rise of ticket prices.

"We would support, the Giants would support, this is a better alternative than continuous ticket price increases across the board to fund operations," he said. "I don't know who would be on the sleeve, or, whatever. Something tells me it will be a sleeve."
