Daily Madden: 49ers Need Their Swagger Back
SANTA CLARA (KCBS) - The Philadelphia Eagles face the 49ers at Levi's Stadium Sunday.
"The 49ers really need this one," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "You can't have a must game early in the season and I know that, but this is as close to it as you can get."
The 49ers are 1-2 after getting shut out in the second half and losing to Arizona last Sunday.
"You lose a little confidence, you lose a little swagger, you have to get it back."
The Eagles are 3-0 after edging Washington.
"(The 49ers) have to know first of all that it's 60 minutes, and no matter what happens early that's not going to be the end because this Eagles team doesn't go away. Nick Foles is a good quarterback, and if there's anything that they have to do to the Eagles is they have to get a pass rush... They haven't done a good job at that."
On offense, Madden expects the 49ers to run the ball more Sunday.
"They went a lot of five wide receivers (against Arizona), so therefore they didn't have a running back, so therefore they didn't have a running game. They have to get back to some balance on offense." (6:20)
