Police Seek Identity Of Woman Tied To Thefts At 6 Santa Rosa Schools

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) - Santa Rosa police are hoping the public can help identify a woman that may be linked thefts at half a dozen local schools.

Since September 10th, six Santa Rosa schools have reported purses and other property stolen out of classrooms and campus buildings. Santa Rosa police say credit cards from the thefts have been used at local stores.

Police have released a photo of one of those transactions in hopes that someone recognizes the woman.

"Thefts have occurred at Matanzas, Sequoia, Schaffer, Village and Steele Lane elementary schools, as well as the Santa Rosa Charter School located on Humboldt Street," the Santa Rosa Police Department reported.

Superintendent Casey D'Angelo of the Rincon Valley Union School District said he has sent out district-wide reminders after three of his district's schools were hit. "We're making sure all classrooms are locked and guests go to the office, so we're trying to tighten that up," D'Angelo told KPIX 5.

Police said anyone who recognizes the woman or is a theft victim is asked to call Detective Eric McElhaney at (707)543-4078.
