Deputy U.S. Marshal Accused Of Stealing Marijuana At Gunpoint Outside NorCal Motel
YUBA CITY, Sutter County (AP) — A deputy U.S. marshal is accused of stealing roughly 24 pounds of marijuana at gunpoint from three people parked at a Northern California motel.
Federal authorities say Clorenzo Griffen and two accomplices, Andre Jamison and Rodney Rackley, pulled up behind the three victims in a Yuba City motel parking lot and robbed them while impersonating police.
A criminal complaint filed in federal court on Wednesday accuses Griffen, of Miami, Jamison and Rackley of conspiracy to commit robbery and distribute marijuana and brandishing a firearm.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says the three men were arrested shortly after the Oct. 11 robbery when a California Highway Patrol officer saw them run a red light.
Lauren Horwood, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Sacramento, said she did not know whether the men had attorneys.
