Police Find Victim Shot Dead In West Oakland Residential Neighborhood

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A male victim was shot to death on a residential street in West Oakland early Saturday morning, according to police.

Oakland police officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of Mead Avenue between Market Street and San Pablo Avenue at 2:16 a.m., Oakland police Officer Cynthia Espinoza said.

Police located a male victim who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds outside a residence, Espinoza said.

The victim was pronounced dead a short time later.

No suspects have been arrested and police have not released any suspect descriptions.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
