Woman Arrested After Friday Night Shooting Outside Watsonville Restaurant

WATSONVILLE (CBS SF) -- Officers responded to a shooting incident at a restaurant in Watsonville Friday night that netted one arrest, police said.

At 11:57 p.m. police received reports of shots fired in the area of 410 Rodriguez Street, the location of the Appleton Grill, according to Watsonville police Sgt. Michael Ridgway.

Responding officers arrived to find people flooding out of the restaurant with witnesses indicating that the gun fire came from a parking lot outside of the Appleton Grill, Ridgway said.

No victims were found on scene, according to Ridgway.

While waiting for the crowd to disperse, officers found an intoxicated woman sitting in a vehicle that had several bullet holes laced across its body, according to Ridgway.

After the woman refused to identify herself, a loaded revolver was found inside the vehicle, along with several shell casings that were lying near the vehicle in the parking lot, Ridgway said.

The woman was arrested for being drunk in public and being in possession of a loaded firearm.

Officers collected more evidence of the shooting and impounded the vehicle so that further evidence may be retrieved for the investigation.
